Question

I have 2 porch decks where the wood decking is covered with what I believe is rolled roofing. It looks like asphalt roofing except it is a roll and not shingles. The problem I am having is that the roofing is being scruffed off and then being tracked into the house. There are little black things all through the carpet and floors. Is there anything I can use such as paint to seal it? At this point in time we are not able to put on a new deck. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You can sweep it or lightly spray it off. I can not recommend any type of sealer for what you are experiencing.

there are several products you can use to keep down the mess,

1 Snow Roof is an elastomaric coating which can be applied with a paint roller, it comes in 5 gal. buckets and the finished product will look like paint,(and it will hold)

2 coat the whole thing with fibered roof cement then apply outdoor grass carpeting to the surface.

3 remove the old roof and install rubber roofing to the deck

4 put a big for sale sign in the yard and relocate! he he he.
