Have to add another vent to roof

I have a two terr roof (enclosed picture) and one side has a roof vent near top. That vent sits over a beam in the roof.I have to add 6 in vent for kitchen fan. Can I go down to side of existing vent with out weaken the roof at that point.Using similar vent with damper to put on roof. Can not go to back of house to install new vent. All three side of front peak have vents near top.

First, confirm that 6" is the correct size. Many are 10". You can locate your new through roof vent somewhat near the other vent but I would try to separate them by at least several feet. If they are too close it can weaken the roof sheathing and it makes shingling and doing the flashing more difficult.

Yes I need only a 6 in vent. I was planning to take a 2x4's and connect from joist to joist between openings so the roof would not be weaken. I really do not want to get to low on the one side of the roof. Will try and get a good space between both vents. It really is up to the joist in that part of the roof.
