29 gauge roofing is the thinnest recommended thickness you can use in home metal roofing.
If you have severe weather, high winds or even hail..... you should consider #26 or even #24.

You live a rural area. What are the farmers using on their homes and barns? Who is installing them? Don't know if you have Amish in your area, but I'm having my cabin roof put on by an Amish guy who does most of the work in the area. I've seen his work and quality. Talk to others in you area and see who and what they bought.

Had to pull the trigger on some 8 foot bronze/brown from Home Depot before winter. Very pleased with the color and doesn't seem too flimsy. Guess I'll have to climb one half of the 40 footer, then sidestep with climbing rope over to the other half that's hanging from the ridge with 2 ladder hooks.
