I have a 12X20 aluminum shed with 2x4 trusses 16 in on center.
The shed currently has an aluminum roof and has had spray foam insulation applied throughout the interior. (including the underside of the roof)
Our homeowners Association requires asphalt shingles that match the house.
Can I apply regular 3 tab asphalt shingles over the aluminum roof?
And if so, are there any special installation steps I should consider?
The current roof is screwed into the trusses as well as 1X4 slats that run the length of the seams.
The spray insulation has been applied on the inside of all of this.
Thanks in advance for your input.

"aluminum roof" is quite vague. If you could link to a picture of the exact profile (shape) of the panels that might help. Plus you did not say what the slope of the roof is. 1:12? 4:12? that makes a difference.
But generally speaking, NO. Not as it currently is.
You would need to deck over the roof with a minimum of 7/16" OSB or 3/8" plywood, since that is what shingle mfg's recommend as a minimum substrate. Then underlayment (felt), then metal drip edging, then shingles.

I'd screw down straps that match the thickness of the raised part of the roofing to attach the roof decking to .
