I have a typical walkout basement with a deck. Under the deck can be a nice seating area. However, I want it to stay dry. The previous homeowner had installed something like this: https://www.familyhandyman.com/decks/building-a-deck/under-deck-roof/ Great idea but it wasn’t installed correctly because it sagged and didn’t slope enough and caused water to come back into basement near ceiling. I’d like to do this again but correctly. One thing I need to solve is a way to clean the top of the “roof”. We have some messy trees and I think that contributed to the previous roof’s demise. Any thoughts out there on how to design this?

I need to do get an exterior waterproofing repair done for an old bunaglow house. I was quoted approx. $2250 for the following repair steps. Any feedback on the repair steps? Is it reasonable for the price? Is there anything missing or need to be questioned? 1. Excavate 15 ft by 5 1/2 ft deep (approx.) along the right side of house. 2. Expose foundation wall. 3. Clean foundation wall, fill in any holes and bracks with hydraulic cement. 4. Remove old weeping time drainage system (if any) 5. Replace with new 4" weeping tile drainage system with filter cloth 6. Apply blue skin adhesive and blue skin rubber membrane for the primary waterproofing layer 7. Apply a dimpled membrane for the secondary waterproofing layer 8. Cover weeping drainage sytem with 3/4 gravel 9. Backfill excavated area with original soil 25 years warranty on workmanship and labour
