Question

I am also installing rolled roofing on my patio cover. I have been told to use tar (and lots of it on the under the laps) and to go over the laps again with more tar once I have completed covering the entire surface. Is 'lap sealer' the way to go instead of tar? and is it strong enough so I won't have to go over the overlaps with tar and hold the laps down with nails? I would prefer to have the least amount of visual markings on the roof. Do you also place tar or some other adhesive on the ends of the rolled roofing to prevent rain/wind from bringing it up?
Any help is appreciated.

The lap sealer is specifically made for this purpose. Yes, put sealer along the entire edge, but under as if it were being sealed to the roof. The nails hold it down. Dab sealer on the heads.
