Drip edge on a metal roof

I got a metal roof on my back patio. It extends a couple inches beyond the edge and there isn't a drip edge installed. Under it is a 2x6 and that's it. I'm wondering if I need to put a drip edge in place? I'm replacing the 2x6s with 2x8s so it covers all the exposed area and I'm getting rid of the rotten boards. So what are your thoughts here?

Drip edge is always a good idea. But you also need bottom closure, which is a foam strip shaped like the metal roofing. It goes underneqth the metal roofing... between the metal edge and the roofing.
