Aluminum gutter questions
First time installing gutters but these 5" half rounds looked good. I'm confused about the fasteners, though. I'm using #10 Combo Shank hangers and I notice they have 6 - 1/8" holes for screws. Six seems like overkill if I anchor them in rafter ends (but what do I know). The hangers and gutters are painted, the rafters are 24" apart and the fascia is 1.5" thick. I should also mention that the gutters will get leaves but not snow and they don't have leaf guards:
1) What kind of screws can/should I use with aluminum? (only aluminum, coated, stainless, sheet metal,...)
2) If I anchor hangers into the rafter ends, how long should the screws be and do I need all six screws?
3) If I anchor hangers into the fascia, how long should the screws be?
I sure would appreciate any guidance that your experience could provide.
Thanx, Carl

If your fascia is 1 1/2" thick you don't need to hit the rafters, and you can space the hangers as you like. I'd suggest a maximum of 32" apart. If you want to go 24" that's fine. You might want to snap a chalk line that is at the correct pitch, and set them to the chalk line. 1" galvanized screws will be fine. Doubtful you need 6 screws. Even 4 would be plenty, IMO. If you were up north and they could fill with ice you could always put them closer and use more screws.

Make sure the hangers are aluminum. Personally, for the small difference in price, I would use aluminum screws.
