Downspout filter works?
I would like to relocate debris filter (from high on gutter) down to the ground level (downspout filter https://www.homedepot.com/p/InvisaFl...4400/202516215). Is there a drawback with this approach? Thank you.

Dependent upon your situation there could be, for what reasons/issues are you considering this?

The filter you linked to keeps the leaves from getting into an underground discharge line.
Typically most systems back up where the downspout connects to the gutter or at the first bend where it's almost impossible to get to.
You could use both.

Typically gutter outlets or downspout elbows will get plugged before anything even gets to the bottom of the downspout. That's why gutter strainers are used inside the gutter outlets. As mentioned, the ones you have pictured are kind of a redundant or fail safe filter.

What I had in mind was to move the clogging location from gutter to the lower section of downspout. But you experts already explained that even without a gutter guard, the gutter-downspout joint would be clogged first.
Would upsizing the downspout from 2x3 to 3x4 help? Amazon also sells a wide mouth gutter-to-downspout funnel. Does it work? (I cannot post the link).

Yes it would help, but they can still get clogged. If you dont want leaves in your gutters in the first place, you really need to install some type of gutter guards.

Is gutter guard a mesh that covers the top opening of a gutter? Will it prevent gutter clogging? Is it pretty much maintenance free? Can it somehow cause water to enter the space between the gutter and facia board? Thank you.
