basement weep holes wo french drains
Hollow basement blocks are filling (walls leak at 4 feet) possibly a 20 foot stretch of wall. Only occurs after heavy rainfall, Wall is next to sump pump, floor is floating, no French drains, not aware of any pipes below concrete floor. Live in NJ.
Question, by drilling interior weep holes, I would assume this alleviates the pressure and protects the foundation. I would like to avoid installing French drains to save the cost. So if the water leaks directly into the cove joint, is this a bad thing? Currently the ac drains into the cove joint. Alternatively, could I rig up a gutter system which slopes into the sump pit. Not elegant, moisture issues would have to be addressed. Thanks.
