Removed Shingles - Now Rain Coming
Hi folks - I'm reroofing a small cottage. My ever-so-trusty phone weather app said today and tomorrow would be clear and sunny. I took off one side of the roof shingles today and now a two-hour storm is due in. By the time I heard about it, it was dark, I was exhausted, and it was too late to buy a tarp anywhere anyway.
It SHOULD be clear and sunny all day tomorrow and then most of the next day until late evening. Is about 36 hours of clear skies adequate time to let the exposed side dry out before putting down the underlayment? And I'm buying a tarp tomorrow.
Thanks.

Assume he is referring to the decking.
No right answer, if it's OSB it's somewhat waterproof, plywood no so much.
One wetting is not going to ruin anything and lets be honest, there are plenty of roofs that get shingled when wet, it's not a death sentence but should be prepared for the worst, it's the weather after all!

The deck being wet when you shingle isn't the biggest problem... The big problem is the runoff that all goes down the gaps between the sheets and sets the attic insulation and ruins the ceiling drywall.
Typically you quit for the night after you paper.

Thanks for the responses. Yes it was the decking, not the paper. The next day was clear and hot so it dried out pretty fast. But yes XSleeper, I have a few water spots in the ceiling I need to prime over now.
