Hi DIY Folks. I'm thinking of putting a gutter up over this window (see attached photo). At first, it seemed easy but the angles are making me think this is not a DIY project. It's not high up so that's not a challenge. Is there any advantage to just putting a gutter on the front face?
As always, thank you for all your help. Can you tell that there are two angles on both sides?
If I was doing it, I would only put the gutter on the front face, and if you want something on the sides, it would simply be a deflector that would go under the shingles and direct water down to the front.
You can't really do a compound miter with a gutter.
You would buy a piece of flashing like this, and slide it underneath the bottom course of shingles all along the sides. Not like Marq's picture but same idea... just on the edges of the roof. You would actually be installing it upside down so that it sticks up and channels all the water down to the gutter in front.
Then you just need to decide which side of the window to put the downspout on. Or decide that it's not worth it to put up a gutter in the first place. Your call.
To attach pressure treated lumber to a regular 2x4, what's the best adhesive to use? I'll list the products I have here. If none of them are any good for this, what should I buy?
Tec Multipurpose Primer
Mulco Plastic Cement
Quad Window Door & Siding Sealant
Quikrete Concrete Bonding Adhesive
Restore Exterior Crack Filler for Concrete and Wood
It's for a roof. Obviously I would use nails or screws, but I don't have enough clearance to get my hand into the area, especially not with a hammer or a screwdriver in my hand.
Entire Roof replaced last week. Noted that the drip edge in several places is 'bowed'. What I mean is the area you can see is not flush to the facia in a number of areas. Roofer agreed and is working on alternative drip edge supplier and will replace the drip edge. Looks to be some sort of issue with the rolling at manufacture. Now I'm worried that the act of replacing the drip edge may end up damaging the shingles. He seems ok in that it can be done and has done it in the past. Any thoughts, gotchas, go ahead and do it, don't do it and leave it alone as it is just an appearance issue? I don't want to end up with something more serious than what I have now.
Thanks
