Question Ice-melting roof cable was cut?

Hi,

I am the onsite manager for the property that I live on. This last spring the landscapers that first clean up the property after winter accidentally cut one of the ice-melting cables coming out of a gutter spout/drain with a lawn mower.

When i discovered it last spring I just put some electric tale over it for safety. It is now snow season and I am not sure what to do with this?

I take it that this cable needs to complete a circuit? So, do I need only to connect the wires in this cable and tape it up to make the system work? Or does something else need to be done to make sure the system works?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

John

Usually outdoor things like heat cables are sealed to keep water out. You replace them when damaged.
