Pitch of roof

My father is building a woodshop, and told me to find out what the minimum pitch of a shingled roof needs to be to avoid leaks and other problems, and also, what size boards and what type of spacing should he use for a 14' span?

4-12 is the manufacters(?) minimum pitch for shingles.i would use 2x6 for the rafters 1/2 cdx or osb for the decking.dont forget the clips also i would go with 16oc but you can go 24. 2x4s will work but i would rather err on the side of too much.not much more money and you know it can bear the load
