roof overs

1) Do nail guns work well on roof overs

2) when starting first course what fraction of a shingle should i use

3) asphalt or fiberglass shingles

4) strip ridge cap and replace or roof over old

5) does a roof over really cut roof life in half

1-with long enough nails and correct air pressure yes
2-dont understand what you are asking
3-your choice depends where you live
4-strip ridge cap
5-doubt it is half but you will void your warranty
hope that answered your questions.always better to tear off to the deck boards though.better longer lasting roof and you can check for rot
as to your other question(lost your email,sorry)i think its just a matter of what you like.the only thing that makes it matter is that your butt joints,shingle ends dont line up with your starter strip.so if you start with a full length starter you have to start with a cut shingle.you should always try to keep a six inch differance in your seams.hope it helps,sorry took so long
