Exclamation

My 1850's post and beam cape is currently protected with a metal standing seam roof. There are no leaks anywhere and I have yet to live in it for a winter.I live in Vermont . The roof has a good pitch to it with no dormers and a chimney on the outside wall not on the ridge line. Should I "gut" the roof and go with wooden shingles or asphalt or just put up new standing seam?

New roof

Your question is not clear. The roof doesn't leak. Why do you need to replace it?

I was looking for a couple of options for replacing my roof in order to enhance the look of my home. I was trying to see what kind of responses I would get. Maybe some inspiration. Perhaps a few good ideas.
