Question

Any help is more than appreciated.
I am putting new roll roofing on an old out building. When tearing the old off, I noticed that the roof was wood slats not plywood sheeting. Some of these planks were rotten, and I have already torn these up-which leads to my QUESTION:
If I want to put plywood sheeting down, can I do so over the planks that are left, or should I tear all of the previous roof up and then place the sheeting down.

If it makes a difference, there weren't that many rotten planks, so the holes that exist are not that large and the planks that remain seem to be sturdy.

Thanks in advance.

go ahead and either resheath with 1/2 ply or osb or.... replace the sections of planks rafter to rafter you'll be fine
