Roof Shingle Layout

I am adding an garage to my existing house. I want the new garage to come off the house at a 15 degree angle because of lot size. My contractor says he can't make the shingles match at the 15 degree roof valley and wants to raise the garage roof a few inches to provide a break in the two rooflines. I want the rooflines to be the same height. Do you have any suggestions on how to install roof shingles at a 15 degree valley and look good.

My guess is your roofer and you are taling about a closed valley. I may be wrong, but with an open valley and a started strip up the valley, You should be able to set a back shingle and then keep right on going. Unless someone studied your roof for awhile they would not tell the difference. Good Luck
