Question metal roof over composition

We are wondering if we can save the effort of removing the 2 layers of composition shingles on our rambler when we install a baked enamel metal roof. Is there any disadvantage to leaving the shingles on with our 2x10 trussed roof?

I would remove The existing two layers of shingles to check the sheathing and the flashings before installing the new metal roof. Also by removing them you will eliminate alot of weight and have a cleaner surface appearance.

Thanks for the reply. Your response goes along with another concern we had which was that the metal roof might eventually follow the built-up contours of the thick composition. We will remove.

On a related question, we were curious if resale value is affected positively or negatively by using the baked enamel roof. We like the look a lot but wonder if it is considered by others to be an upgrade or not?

Metal roofing---Standing seam is fast becoming the way to go on alot of residential projects. The warranty is a big thing to consider which exceeds the asphalt shingle warranty. One manufacturer to look at is Unaclad.com In our opinion we do consider it to be an upgrade from standard roofing products when installed properly. We hope this helps you.
