Question Do gutters need to be replaced?

The obvious answer is YES when you know we are the 2nd owners of a 34 yr old home. The gutters are aluminum. We cleaned and topped them (plastic snap on screens) 6 yrs ago.

Occassionally we have to tighten them at the spikes to keep them from pulling away from house. This may be the problem again, but it looks more like they are leaking in certain spots, Does aluminum rust or wear thin? Can these be patched. Budget is tight right now. When we do replace, what are best value on market? Vinyl or aluminul? Are the LeafGuard (enclosed gutter where rain flows over gutter to and into chamber ob side) the best as advertised?

Yes, gutters need to be replaced periodically. The rust through.
I would replace with steel gutters, stronger then aluminum. The leaf guards are ok, but then the leaves build up on your screen and water backs up under your shingles. but alot of people use them.
