figuring/cutting roof joist angles

Can you please tell me if there is an easy way to figure a roof angle, so I can cut the roof joists. There must be an easier way other than making a cut and climbing up to check it 5 or 6 times. Thanks Scott

You must be cutting rafters, not joists. First you must know the pitch of your roof. 5/12, 4/12, 7/12, etc. Once you know this, lay two rafters on the ground at the correct angle, and make yourself a template. Use this to cut the rest of your rafters. Good Luck
