Padding

What is the best sort of padding to put under a California berber carpet when you have cats?

I have been introduced to the regular sort of padding, rubber padding and polyurethane padding. I want a firm feel under foot as my home is older and some of the floorboards move a little.

More re padding

Re rubber padding - some places tell me this is the best padding to get while others tell me it disintegrates and to go with polyurethane.

Needless to say, I am at a loss to know what to select (with cats).

Berbermate rubber pad is what you'll want.

I third that!
Older rubber waffle pads did disintegrate after years, but the newer pads I dont think you should have that problem, although they havnt been down 30 years yet

Take out the clay base and the rubber last a real long time . Rebond even had clay they had removed from it.
