Question basement floor

Is in necessary to seal the floor, if i am going to carpet it. Will the dust come up through the carpet?

It won't hurt if your going togo with a stretch in installation. Direct gluedown installations, and the adhesives used, regularly state that sealers are to be removed, so they don't break the bond of the adhesive.

Dust coming through is rarely an issue. Is your basement usually dry? Some areas of NJ are notorious for wet basements.

Don't worry about the sealer if the basement is dry. Go ahead with your carpet install and please post back to let us know how it went.
