residential carpet ratings

This may be a rather personal question but...what are good density, twist, etc. ranges to look for when searching for carpeting to be installed in bedrooms and stairways/hallways??

more than ratings, you need to start out with a good fiber.
If you want the best, buy wool.
If you cannot afford it, buy a nylon, and make it a brand name nylon (Dupont, Anso, ect..)
twist and density are important as long as you pick a durable fiber.
How long do you want it to last.
No carpet is warrantied for stairs.
Builder grade carpet is 25-30 ounce face weight, and it is not highly twisted because you would see the backing.
the more dense, usually the higher twist.
good long lasg carpet is made with a branded nylon and starts at about 45 ounce and goes up to 70 ounce.
your not going to find a 70 ounce carpet with a low twist.
