installing stair runner with a landing

We purchased a beautiful design stair runner, not thinking on how to install it..We have 14 steps and a landing that is about 5 x 4 and another step off the landing to get to the main floor. The problem is we don't know which way to have the pattern run when we get to the landing and the last step. Should we staple the runner to the landing and then continue to the bottom step. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Your taking on a task, most professionals can't make look decent.

Depending on the pattern, you can miter a 45 seam, or run one past the other, and intersect. Or you can cut and bind/serge the edge.

You dont want to put a seam on your landing. Run it strait break it up. There are options but seaming it on a 45 is not.
