Question '76 Buick Skyhawk

I recently purchased a 1976 Buick Skyhawk and there is light colored spot on the carpet that covers the entire center concel (except the plast itself) and i would like to now if i have to replace it or if it is possible to dye the carpet. If it is possible to dye the carpet is there a certain brand or method that i should use? All information is greatly appriciated, thank you.

Autoboby supply shops have the dye you need in spray cans. Beats the heck out of recarpeting a car!

What your most likely seeing is the difference in light reflecting off different textures of carpet. Matted vs. non-matted.

Sun fading could also be the culprit and hard to cover unless you do the entire carpet.
