carpet to tile transition

ICan someone tell me how to go about butting carpet directly into ceramic tile? How much should the carpet overlap the tile to be tucked down next to the tile. I assume it depends on the thickness of the carpet and padding. How far from the tile should the tack strip be located? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If your tile is set on a CBU board, over a wood subfloor, you need some of theses, first www.carpetshims.com

Then your ready.

Nail tackstrip leaving a " gully / space between the tile and the tackstrip.

Stretch the carpet up on the tackstrip, hooking the backing on the tackstrip pins.

Lay a bead of acrylic latex carpet seam sealer in the gully.

Trim the carpet slightly over the tile(long) by an 1/8 to 3/16 inch over.

Tuck into the gully, while laying your forearm across the tackstrip, so the carpet doesn't pop off the tackstrip while tucking.
