Question Easiest Way to carpet Stairs?

I have two runs of stairs I need to carpet, stairs to 2nd floor and stairs down to basement. The current carpet there does not seem to have a carpet pad, do stairs normally have a pad. Also, are tack strips used or just staples and some sort of adhesive? What is the best way to go about carpeting the stairs. They're 3ft wide and about 7 inch by 7 inch rise/run.

There are many ways to do a staircase, along with many different styles of steps to even try to walk you through it with typed messages.

Stair are very involved, if you want them to look decent.
