carpet on tile
is there any other way to remove glued down carpet from the tile below than scraping with a putty knife?

What kind of tile?
Vinyl glued tiles or ceramic mortar set tiles?
Scraping and heat works.
Flooding a section with hot water with a little alcohol, then cover it up with plastic for the night and come back in the morning and peel back the plastic just a little and start scraping and pulling.
They make latex removal chemicals.
