Can berber carpet be installed on concrete steps...sides, top and fronts. How can you install without raw edges showing and loose threads showing and possibly running? Padding will not be used on these steps.

Berber is a hard carpet to upholster, at least the tight-loop berbers. It just isn't flexible enough to bend like you want without a lot of effort. Tops and front are ok, but then to also do the sides is tough. Installers that did my basement didn't want to do the sides. And these are installers that do a lot of berber.

yes it can. All of this can be done, i have done it many times. Ive installed every day for 13 years. You need a good installer (The good ones like to get paid well for special tailoring) Cuts have to be made here and unfortunatley you will have to make "cross cuts" (cross grain/cutting loops). A good man can do it and make it look acceptable (depending on your level of acceptance of course). It can take hours, a lot of patience. Time is money for them. Keep in mind, all carpet is different and no guarantee can be made. Unfortunatley sometimes you have to just "wing it" and hope for the best. Some carpets react terribly to seam sealors while others ...surprisingly well. Pick a carpet and ASK the installer his experience with it. Also, if bumps are going to be under the seam area, count on it causing a problem. You should have those areas smoothed out.
