remove metal strip

how do I remove the metal strip between carpet and laminate floor, safely and without damaging carpet or strip (so it can be used again). TL.

Hammer and chisel. You will need to buy a new strip of metal.

On second thought, it depends on the style of metal used. There is no saving crimp metal.

A flat metal can be saved. Drill the heads off the nails, or pry a little to loosen the nail enough to get the hammer claws on it. Place something like a 6" putty knife on the floor to pry against, so you don't mar the flooring.
