How do get musty smell out of carpet?
#1

About two-months ago a pipe burst in the wall of the back closet. We use the closet for storage and rarely go in there. I can't tell you how long the floor was wet. We repaired the leak but not before mold was growing on the walls near the carpet. That's been treated and painted. We've installed new padding under the carpet and had it professionally cleaned and dryed. But I still smell mold or damp must when I enter the closet.
Can anyone suggest a product or method to remove the oder from the carpet. I've checked and the carpet is not molded...it absorbed the oders from the old pad underneath it.
Thanks in advance!

Sorry, but the problem is not the carpet. If you check, you'll find that the odor is coming from the walls.
The mold and mildew are growing inside the walls and the drywall needs to be removed to eliminate the problem. Simply killing the mold on the surface and re-painting solved the problem visible from the outside of the wall. You'll probably have to remove 2-3' of drywall and the studs behind it to get rid of the mold.
