Basement carpeting for musty area?

I have a basement where it smells musty and the room next to it is laundry and boiler room. I believe the original owners placed the carpet on cement floor giving the musty smell. Homedepot carries dricore subfloor which elevates the carpet and provides a gap between cement and rug for moisture to dry from the concrete is this ideal? Is there any other way?

I ripped up the carpet and asphalt tile floor and applied Radonseal and had a new padding and carpet installed and tile just in the foyer and what a big difference.

Did you have the tile floor tested for asbestos? If it was VAT, it and the adhesive both probably contained asbestos.
