Basement - Floor Molding Trim Before/After Carpet Install?

Hi,

I'm in the process of finishing my basement. I'll be putting carpet over the concrete sub-flooring.

However, should I put down the floor molding to the drywall before or after the carpet install?

Thank you!

Normally the base is installed, caulked and puttied, primed and finished prior to carpet installation. Most carpet installers prefer for the base to be raised so they can tuck the carpet underneath it. Usually it's a 1/2" but can be more/less dependent on the carpet being laid.

And some installers, like me, would rather the base is on the floor. Makes it much easier to trim with a carpet trimmer.
