Reinstalling Old Carpet

Hi everyone. My wife and I are moving into a new rental home and the dining and living rooms are carpeted. They are connected, approx 400 sq feet. Underneath the carpet is a beautiful hardwood floor. The landlord is fine with us pulling up the carpet, as long as it is reinstalled upon us moving out, 12-18 months from now. My question is, if I pull up the carpet in one piece, roll it up and store it away from moisture and dirt, can it be reinstalled later with new padding and new tack strips? The carpet seems to be in decent shape and the landlord claims it's four years old. Thanks for any input!
