Carpet repair
I'm new to this and was wondering what the best way to repair this damage is
.
This carpet was already here when I moved in and as such I don't have any spare carpet for a patch. The advice I read only suggested cutting some carpet out of the back of the closet in the room and use that but I would prefer to avoid that.
Is there a good way to find some carpet that would match the current carpet exactly?
I apologize if any of this sounds dumb, I haven't repaired a carpet before.

Dye lots and styles constantly change so it's highly unlikely you'd be able to buy any matching carpet, robbing some out of a closet is the best way to go although dependent on the wear it may still show. Another alternative might be to cut out a threshold size section and install a piece of hardwood in place of the carpet.
