Carpet installation question

I recently had some builder grade carpet purchased at Home Depot installed in a low grade rental. The carpet was 57 cents per square foot.

The installation was for the living room and dining room which was 26 feet by 11 feet. There are 2 small pieces of wall protruding out into the area separating the living room from the dining room. The carpet was installed in one whole piece.

The carpet wasn't stretched properly. There is a part around one of the protruding walls that wasn't stretched properly. When I asked the installer he said the that builder grade carpeting didn't stretch properly.

I don't see how that could be correct. I don't see any excuse for it not being able to be stretched properly.

Thank you!!!

Charles

I am sure you have a question, so I'll anticipate it. Call Home Depot and don't take any excuses.

I've painted a lot of new houses/condos with builder grade carpet and they were all stretched properly. Don't know if they stayed that way but the carpet always looked right before the owner moved in!

Thanks again.

One more vote that this could have been done correctly but simply was not.

There is no reason not to stretch it properly.

I'd go over his head since he has already tried to blame the carpet rather than poor workmanship. Was he an installer paid by Home Depot? even if they only recommended him - they'd have some clout. I assume you've already paid him ??
