Rug catching on door base

I have an outside door that catches the rug when opened, such that I can barely open the door. Is there a good way to secure the carpet down? I am considering staples which might get pulled out, or a narrow wooden threshold screwed through the carpet. Any other ideas? pic attached. Thanks!

Is this a loose rug or wall to wall carpet?

You could put in an entry, it would also keep the carpet clean.

It is wall to wall, kind of old. Trying to come up with the best quick fix.

For a quick fix, stretch and staple the carpet down. Better long term fix is to cut out the carpet and put down vinyl or laminate in front of the door.

And next time your door is replaced, be sure they pad the rough opening up 3/4" on the bottom so that your door doesn't swing so close to the floor!

Thanks I'll try the staples and let you know how it goes.
