Question Carpet Stretching, Tips To Get It Done Right?

I have one area of my living room carpet that is humped up and needs stretched. It's about a foot across if you measure it on the curve, a couple yards long, and a few inches tall. I will probably go to the carpet store/installer who put it in.

What should I expect in a quality job?

1. Will they want to stretch the whole thing or just that area?
2. Any idea on ballpark pricing ranges (not required)?
3. Will they help move the furniture out of the way and back?
4. What else?

It happens, have had a couple areas in different houses where the carpet relaxed and needed some stretching and trimming.

Last time I had that done, about 10 years ago, I paid the guy a couple hundred dollars cash for about two hours of his time.

The entire rooms were not re-stretched but he was stretching across most of the floor to get rid of excess carpet.

The whole room should be restretched. Some stores and some installers have a lifetime warranty. I have tools that will let me do many restretches without emptying the room, Most installers don;t bother to buy them. Do not let them use only a knee kicker. Probably $100-$200. Just depends on prices in your area. It varies a lot. They will charge extra to move furniture.
