carpet stretch
I have a 57 chevy and need to stretch the front carpet 3" from side to side, will my carpet handle that?

Home carpet is made with a canvas/woven like material that has some give, your using auto carpet which, at least the newer cars, is more of a molded product so I'm going to say it's not going to have much give!
Maybe more detail on the carpet would help, new old, type of backing!
