Staplegun for installing Stair Runner?
I'm installing a carpet stair runner with thin underlayment over wooden stairs. I'd like to avoid having to buy a pneumatic stapler and compressor. Is there an electric stapler that would do the job or even a manual one? Spoon feed me a model or link? I'm not afraid of manual, but I'm not sure I get in tight the way I need to. Thanks for the suggestions or other advice about the job.

You could rent one from the Depot for the day..... electric stapler rental.
You'd need to check your local store(s).

PjMax,
Thanks for the reply. I was gonna rent the pneumatic, but my local offerings don't rent out the compresser.
But I'm open to BUYING an electric or manual one heavy enough to staple runners to stairs. Do they make an affordable stapler for DIYers? I don't want to buy a pneumatic because I don't want to get and store a compressor.

XSleeper,
No, sorry if I'm not being clear. I would be open to PURCHASING an electric or even manual stapler heavy enough to secure a stair runner to wooden stairs. I doubt I would have the need or the wallet to buy an electric stapler used for rental purposes as those tend to be expensive and made for heavy use. Rather, a lesser duty electric stapler would do be just fine so long as it was good enough to do the job. It's the pneumatic tool + compressor that I didn't want to buy due to the cost and just for the amount of room it will take up in my garage.
My local rental options are few and don't include electric staplers. The local True Value Hardware store offers the pneumatic stapler, but not the compresser "because people beat on them too much" I was told. My local Home Depot is very small and has very limited rentals. If I can find a heavy duty electric stapler for RENT as PJmax suggested, I might go that way, but so far no luck.
Anyway, just looking for a light duty electric or manual stapler I can buy that's good enough to do this job. Any spoon feeds for purchasing types of staplers would still be appreciated.

Depot rents out the Roberts 10-600 stapler. I've seen it in use and looks to be a good choice.
It's on Amazon and the Depot for around $100.

Home Depot doesn't stock that one usually but you can order it if you want to buy one.

Okay guys, thanks for the recommendations. I put my wood floor in with a manual nail "gun". Is there anything like that which can be used for star runners or do the angles of the stair just make it impractical?
