Carpet tiles for home office?

The carpet in my now designated home office is getting old. As I am looking at options I also came across the idea of doing carpet tiles.
Trying to get some opinions about this idea. If I sold the home, obviously this room would be a bedroom again...

Also, this room is above the master bedroom. Not sure whether I should be concerned about footstep noise. Or how much more it would be compared to hardwood. I imagine a bit more than carpet with pad

Not really sure what your question is.

I love commercial carpet squares. They are a close napped rug with a self sticking rubber back. They stick pretty good but are easy to pick back up. If you put them down in your home office... they would certainly be easy to pick up and replace. I picked up a full bundle and did most of my basement directly over concrete.

I guess I have two questions:
1.) Footstep noise from carpet tile room in master bedroom below. ( the tiles are pretty thing and of course no padding)
2.) Would it put off a potential home buyer

Yes...those squares are dense. Not much sound deadening.
I don't see it being a deal maker for a home sale but they can be easily removed and replaced.

1. Carpet tiles will reduce the “sharpness” (impact noise) of footsteps. That is the noticeable noise and additional padding will not make much difference.

2. Commercial carpet tiles have a thick rubber backing and do not need to be glued down. Potential buyer could remove them easily and with no damage to the home.

That may allow the floor to be bouncy and to squeak if not fastened securely with glue and screws. It will not affect the sound of footsteps nor the ability to use carpet tiles.

So, finding commercial tiles might the way to go then. Due to the thicker rubber.
Also, can I use some sort of underlayment?

It turns out finding carpet tiles is not as easy as I thought. Most local carpet places don't have carpet tiles. Some have catalogs for commercial, but didn't seem to be enthusiastic to deal with my project.
Big boxes sometimes have the the very colorful ones or the ones that look like regular carpet (which I don't like)

This leaves some online places like:
https://www.flor.com/ (seem to have interesting choices - but pricey)
https://www.flooringinc.com/carpet/tile/index.html
or amazon/wayfair/etc: e.g. https://www.amazon.com/Tiles-Ft-Comm...=13398671&th=1

Any tips to slect and find carpet tiles are welcome!

The stores don't like carpet tiles because they are DIY friendly. They learned their lesson with vinyl-backed vinyl, an easy-to-install product. They want the installation labor money.

Yeah these type of tiles are great because they are so easy to install and can look great.

Unlikely to increase the value of your home, but also unlikely to decrease it. Would depend on the material/thickness in terms of whether they would have any noise cancelling properties.
