50oz felt

40oz felt

Rebond is ok, but not the best.

Prime foam is the cheapest, and is basically junk.

Just remember, to not void a carpet manufactures warranty or an installation warranty, nothing thicker then 7/16" padding, also if rebond is chosen, nothing less then a 6 lb. density. for cut pile carpets.

For a berber loop pile nothing thicker then 3/8" and if a rebond is chosen, nothing less then 8 lb density or it will void ALL WARRANTIES!!

Thanks Perry. I know I am sooo naive. You think living with my father ( flooring salesman) most of my life, I would KNOW something! But "felt," this I don't recall seeing in the stores. I know what rebond is.. the multi-colored pieced together stuff... that crumbles, etc. The salesman there was telling me about a 10 lb "foam" at least it looked like foam... it has a moisture barrier on it.??? Is this "felt"? He was saying how it was the "best"..and it goes for about 6-10 $ dollars/yard. This is another question...is carpet and pad priced by the yard or square foot?

Never seen felt? Your shopping in stores that cater to the price shoppers!! Go to the high end store that carry woven carpets, Wiltons and Axministers. A salesman will sell the cheap stuff and call it the best. Makes his profit bigger. There is only one pure foam pad that I would even consider, it is made buy Omalon(sp) but it to gets crushed in the traffic areas. A felt is a synthetic "horse hair" cushion. It will allow you to get longer life out of your carpets.

Carpet is starting to get priced by the sq. ft. to compare it with other floorcoverings in price. In the past it was always sq. yd priced, because it was considered a fabric. Being priced by the sq. ft. it is easier to mark it up a few pennys a sq. ft. and make much more profit, because pennys in sq. ft doesn't sound like much compared to dollars in sq. yardage pricing. Yet another reason the change to sq. ft. pricing.

Cool

Deer Pad lookers, In my opinion, formed after 27 years in this business, I think a cushion manufactored by Hickory Springs Co. Is the most superior product for home use ever made its call Infinity, it has the double film barrier that seals out spills and dirt, it is allergy resistant, and great warrenty, ask around for it.

Foormantoo,

Is Infinity a foam pad or felt? What oz. or poundage do you recommend? I have seen the double vapor barrier foam pads ... and have walked on them and liked the "cush." What stores have you found it in?

Thank you,
sheryl

Order it directly from floormantoo. He is a retailer in Longview, Tx. I'm sure he will ship you some.
