Question

What happens to the warranty on the carpet when it is self-installed??

So tight yarn heads and high "pick" numbers.... I will look for that. Is there a recommendation for a good carpet, without "paying out the nose?" I know I don't like the rough feel of berber, but I do like a tight/thick feel.

Thank you for your reply!!

As long as it is installed to industry standards, which can be found at http://www.carpet-rug.com/
you should be covered under the manufactures warranty.

Lots of carpets are private labelled. They will all be made at the same mill in Dalton, Georgia, but have different brand names on them, and be the same exact carpet with different style names too. They do this so you can't price shop.

The same carpet that you see at Home Depot is actually the same carpets at the retail floorcovering stores, with Home Depots private label. Same way with Lowe's. Think about that. All I can say is get as much carpet education you can and go shopping! Salesmen hate educated shoppers!!!
