Question

I just put in a tile floor throughout most of the house. The bedrooms are still carpet and I want to have the carpet go all the way to the edge of the tile. All the edges of the carpets are tacked down, except the tile edge.

I'm not sure how to do it.

I don't have any tools except normal household items. No special carpet tools.

Thanks,

What kind of tile? Ceramic, vinyl, VCT?

It is going to take some specialty tools and supplies to do it right.

Your going to need a hammer, tackstrip or transition pieces, carpet stretcher, razor knife, and good hand skills to repair the areas.

If it is over concrete, it is sometimes impossible to get a nail to hold the tackstrip, and must be hammerdrilled and molly to anchor it to the concrete.

You may want to hire a professional to finish off the carpet. try http://www.cfiinstallers.com/ and click on the "Find an installer" link. These are some of the best installers in the nation, and have been through formal education and testing to become Certified.

It is an 18" ceramic tile, so I have a 1/4" rise at the end of it. I have two different styles of carpet - One is fairly thick and the other is old and thinner.

I don't have a carpet stretcher, is there any other way to put the carpet tight?
