Thanks for your help. I kind of understand but not 100%. The grey and purple come in from the heat pump and would be a sensor I assume.

I have wires from the heat pump, where are they now going?

Correct it is a heat pump with back up electric. No gas. This control box is mounted to my furnace and the red, black and white run between the stat and box.
