Looked at the flywheel again today and sure enough it is broken. Just a thought, if I take if off which I have to, if it can be welded and then heated up to be put back on. I wonder if it would hold...

They start from the underneath. Like I said earlier, if there are already 3 in the motor a fourth is not needed. If this is a Self propelled unit it may be covered with a belt guard.

Sounds to me like the flywheel key has sheared off. Sounds like it is out of time. Pull off the cover that covers the flywheel bolt and take out the flywheel bolt and inspect.
