Correct, it is inside the house. It seems like when I just run the fan, no ac, it starts fine. When I run it with ac, it has trouble starting. I'm pretty baffled.

Air handler: loud noise and trouble starting

The unit is a Lennox air handler, and is 3 years old. The issue is when the fan on the inside (air handler) starts. It's like a car trying to turn over with an old battery. You can hear it banging...

Thank you, I guess you've confirmed what I was thinking, that a 60" clawfoot won't fit where a 60" 'normal' was.

Ah well, have to keep an eye out for a cheap 57" I guess.
