Looks to me like a Double-pole/Double-throw switch. I suspect Top Left is Common for the top 2 terminals on the right and Bottom Left is Common for the bottom 2 terminals on the right.

Smoke alarms are inexpensive and I wouldn't bet my life on an old one. Just me.

Only Napco panel I did a firmware3 upgrade on was a 3000 and that was a chip change. That was also 15 years ago.
Sounds like you are upgrading the firmware using the Napco upload/download software....
