Good news - the gear is loose!

My homemade "puller" was slipping so I kept modifying it until I got it to grip the gear teeth. A small notch in the fingers did the trick. Parts are ordered. I will soon be attacking the lawn! ...

Like you, I have no experience from which to draw any information. I can tell you this. If those rods can get bent, I was putting all of my 6' frame and 210 pounds into the effort.

I will delay "torching" the part. The dirt shield is plastic and will not survive the attempt to heat the gear. Buying a cheap gear puller is a better plan.

Yes, the more I learn about the machine it is obvious that I really messed up the belt. Now I need to find out how to get access to the drive belt and "take-up roller and spring.
